CRM Anthem. 12 Step Catholic Anthem

Holy Mother
Written by Eric and Stephen Bishop
A 12 Step Catholic Anthem. CRM Anthem.

Always Brings me to tears.
The plight of 12 Step Catholic. In and out of Recovery.
For all those suffering.

Lyrics and How this song came about.

From TaylorMarshall.com

During the lows of Eric Clapton’s alcoholism, he wrote a ballad to the Blessed Virgin Mary called “Holy Mother.” The lyrics are moving and conclude with a “now and at the hour of our death” moment followed by a solo that only Clapton could construct:

When my hands no longer play,
My voice is still, I fade away.
Holy mother, then I’ll be
Lying in, safe within your arms. [guitar solo]

During this time in his life, Clapton had a conversion to Christ which explains like this:

I had found a place to turn to… From that day until this, I have never failed to pray in the morning, on my knees, asking for help, and at night, to express gratitude for my life and, most of all, for my sobriety. I choose to kneel because I feel I need to humble myself when I pray, and with my ego, this is the most I can do.

Lyrics written by Eric and Stephen Bishop

Holy Mother

Holy Mother, where are you?
Tonight I feel broken in two.
I've seen the stars fall from the sky.
Holy mother, can't keep from crying.
Oh I need your help this time,
Get me through this lonely night.
Tell me please which way to turn
To find myself again.
Holy mother, hear my prayer,
Somehow I know you're still there.
Send me please some peace of mind;
Take away this pain.
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait any longer.
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait for you.
Holy mother, hear my cry,
I've cursed your name a thousand times.
I've felt the anger running through my soul;
All I need is a hand to hold.
Oh I feel the end has come,
No longer my legs will run.
You know I would rather be
In your arms tonight.
When my hands no longer play,
My voice is still, I fade away.
Holy mother, then I'll be
Lying in, safe within your arms.

Weekly 12 Step Catholic Musings is back!

I've really been trying to be super mindful of my spending and my thought process behind it. Not easy. Because I'm an Addict (in Recovery) and suffer from severe ADHD which means my brain is wired oddly. Lol 😂 😆

I know that as a 12 Step Catholic though I gotta be careful of my addiction to spending and purchasing. Since the serotonin spike only lasts a few minutes then regret comes in and self hate. A lovely cycle.

I know that The Holy Trinity is the only one who can fill that hole in me. No amount of anything will ever do that. EVER.

So I'm careful and watchful of triggers, and keep it real in meetings and with other 12 Step Catholics.

I've really been trying to make strides in this area.
Something that has taken me awhile to see. I started it over a year ago this take responsibility for my spending habits, lol.

I don't see my own growth. Do you?
When my husband Jeff Says he's proud of my restraint in the spending department, that really means something lolol 🤣 😂.
In all seriousness, this is the Virtue of: Self Control. Something I desire to have more of. I think it's fair to say we all do.
We have a list of Virtues From our Workbook I'll share here. It's in the 12 Step Catholic confession Workbook Steps 4 through 7.
I love having a Virtue List. Something to strive for and be aware of what can I do to be more Jesus like and less me.
God Bless
I'll end with CRM Protection Prayer.
Jesus Protect and Save the unborn, the children, the elderly and the marginalized. Amen

Chalk Talk Father Martin

Father Joseph C. Martin
October 12, 1924 – March 9, 2009

Father Joseph Martin
Father Martin videos are used by Professionals and Individuals all over the World for Alcoholism treatment and Education.....He began his road to recovery in 1958 at The Guest House, which was founded and operated by Austin Ripley. While, drinking himself, Austin Ripley came across a copy of the Saturday Evening Post and discovered an article featuring Alcoholics Anonymous. The article described how this new five year old organization, was having success helping alcoholics get and stay sober. It also talked about their "Big Book" which had only been in print for 1 year. As a result of this article, Austin Ripley began his journey of recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous.

During a year's period of time, Austin Ripley spent as much time as he could with the founders of A. A.; Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith. He gained valuable knowledge and information about them and the program they founded.

Father Martin met Austin Ripley on the first day of his stay at The Guest House. He also was introduced to a Dr. Walter Green, himself a recovering alcoholic. Dr. Green was the first to talk about the intellect and the emotion and how drugs and alcohol cause the emotions to over-rule the intellect.

Father deeply admired Austin Ripley and was so impressed with Dr. Green's lectures, that he saved his notes and 14 years later would use them to give his famous "Chalk Talks". These lectures have been heard by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Father has always given credit to both men for teaching him everything he knows about Alcoholism.

Today, the entire treatment community mourns the loss of an icon. The death of Fr. Joseph Martin marks the end of an era. Fr. Martin's world renowned "Chalk Talk on Alcohol" changed the lives of thousands of recovering alcoholics. Fr. Martin's humor and spirituality infused his teachings with hope. He believed in the innate dignity of the human person and founded Father Martin's Ashley as an oasis where the alcoholics and addicts could heal. As Fr. Martin passes through death to life his legacy lives on at Ashley as we continue his mission of hope and healing. Truly, the world is a better place for him having been here.
